With a dull thud, the central locking engaged, deadlocking the clueless crooks inside. The windows? The electrics simply cut out, and they didn’t have the muscle to smash through the heavy glass. But the real fun started a second later: a ‘silent alarm’ kicked in. The hazard lights began to flash, and while keeping the thieves trapped, the car literally called the police itself, sending the cops its exact GPS coordinates.
When the patrol arrived just five minutes later, the officers could barely hold back their laughter.
“Two grown, strong men were sitting in the back, practically begging us to open the door from the outside. They looked as miserable as if they’d been stuck in a lift,” joked a police insider.
It turns out the owner had kitted out his luxury saloon with an advanced smartphone-controlled deadlock system. The hopeless thieves are now heading straight to the clink, still scratching their heads over how they got completely outsmarted by a car.
